Now Another Headache For Traffic in Downtown Shreveport
Difficult has just become nearly impossible. For motorists that frequently use I-20 to leave downtown Shreveport and go east into Bossier City have just been hit with some terrible news.
You might recall that just this past Friday, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced the emergency immediate closure of the I-20 Exit 19A Market Street southbound ramp to allow repairs to be made to the bridge deck.
This is a real traffic nightmare for those traveling west on I-20 who wish to venture south on Market Street or towards Youree Drive.
And the news has just gotten worse. Yesterday afternoon, the DOTD announced the emergency immediate closure of the southbound Market Street entrance ramp to I-20 east in downtown Shreveport.
This completely stops all the normal flow of traffic leaving downtown Shreveport who wish to proceed east into Bossier City.
Though not a convenient alternative, this traffic can use the Texas Street Bridge to go across the Red River eastward into Bossier and the proceed towards I-20 east.
The DOTD has provided no tentative dates for repairs to be completed to either of these two ramps and state that both the Market Street South exit from I-20 West and the Market Street entrance to I-20 east will be closed "until further notice."
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
