North Louisiana Faces A Sweltering Heat Advisory Today
We are moving into the dog days of summer and that means it's going to get really hot.
In fact, a heat advisory has been issued for today for all of north Louisiana. This advisory is in effect until at least 7:00pm tonight.
The National Weather Service says we could see heat index values up to 105 are expected this afternoon.
This advisory includes much of north Louisiana, parts of south central and southwest Arkansas and much of east Texas.
The temperature in the Shreveport area today is expected to be in the upper 90's, but it will feel very hot. No rain is expected today and that will make this heat feel even more miserable.
What You Should Do During a Heat Advisory?
During a heat advisory, you are reminded to prioritize safety. If at all possible, you should try to stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible. If you do have to be outside, be sure to limit strenuous activities and schedule these activities for the coolest parts of the day, typically early morning or late evening. Another key piece of advice is to wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to reflect sunlight.
