One of the greatest NFL coaches in history, Chuck Noll has passed away at age 82.

Under Chuck Noll The Pittsburgh Steelers won 4 Super Bowls, building a football dynasty with a nucleus of future Hall of Famers that included Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Lynn Swann, Jack Ham, Franco Harris, John Stallworth, and Jack Lambert.

Noll’s Steelers won the Super Bowl of the 1974, ‘75, ‘78 and ‘79 seasons, and captured nine American Football Conference Central Division championships in his 23 years as coach. They became one of the NFL's most dominant franchises.

Noll served as an assistant coach to Hall of Famers Sid Gillman and Don Shula, before taking the head coach position at The Steelers in 1969.

"Coach Noll's quiet leadership produced extraordinary results that deeply inspired players, coaches and fans," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Saturday in a statement. "He always put the team, his players, and the game first. His legacy of excellence will forever be an important part of the history of the Steelers and the NFL."
