Shreveport Police Take More Felons & Firearms Off the Street

Proactive Officers Remove Firearms and Felons From Shreveport Streets
The Shreveport Police Department continues its proactive efforts to reduce gun violence and keep the community safe, arresting individuals unlawfully in possession of firearms in two recent incidents.
· Nicholous Simmons: Arrested During a Traffic Stop: On November 24, 2024, SPD officers conducted a traffic stop near Jewella Avenue and West 70th Street. During the stop, they discovered that the driver, Nicholous Simmons, was a convicted felon unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Simmons was arrested without incident and charged accordingly.
· Tiorion Scott: Arrested Following a Pursuit: On November 26, 2024, at approximately 12:53 a.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Kennedy Drive with a headlight out. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit lasting approximately three minutes. The vehicle ran multiple stop signs and made several evasive turns before stopping on Denton Street, a dead-end road.
The driver, identified as Tiorion Scott (01/22/2004), exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers quickly apprehended Scott and recovered a firearm and a ski mask from the scene. Scott was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses.
These incidents demonstrate SPD’s unwavering commitment to removing firearms from the possession of those who cannot legally carry them and ensuring public safety.
