Louisiana School Supply Lists Have Changed A Lot Over The Years

Before long the school bells will be ringing and it will time to go back to school. I like to use this time of year to buy any of the school supply items I use regularly. You can get pretty good deals on notebooks and pens by shopping these deals.

What's New on Today's School Supply List?

But there are so many things on today's back to school supply list that were not on our list a few decades ago. Youngsters are now asked to bring the supplies they will need, but they are also encouraged to bring things for the whole class. This might include boxes of Kleenex, hand sanitizer, paper towels and wipes. We didn't have to bring all this stuff back in the day.

What Was on the School Supply List 50 Years Ago?

It was pretty simple for us. You had to have a few 3-ringed binders, some loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, a few 3 or 5 subject notebooks and maybe a highlighter or 2. I also looked forward to getting a new Trapper Keeper when those came out in the late 70's.

I don't even remember having a backpack at school. We hauled our books the old fashioned way, in our arms. We carried them from class to class. This included all of our hardback books. Later we did graduate to lockers where we could store everything. But we would have to sprint to the locker between classes to grab everything we needed for the next class. Kids today don't even carry books any more. It's all digital.
