A tragic scene in Shreveport where 8 children have been killed in a mass shooting in the Cedar Grove neighborhood. This shooting happened early Sunday morning on West 79th near Linwood Avenue.
Mayor Tom Arceneaux and Police Chief Wayne Smith were on the scene shortly after learning about this tragedy.

Police believe this shooting was domestic related. The shooter car jacked a car near the scene and fled into Bossier. Officers chased him and eventually shot and killed him at a location in Bossier Parish.

Police in Shreveport say this is a large scene with four locations.
Officers responded to a shooting at about 6am Sunday morning in the 300 block of West 79th. Detectives have determined there were 3 crime scenes in Shreveport: two homes on West 79th and another home on Harrison street just a few blocks away.
Detectives say 10 people were shot in this act of violence and 8 of those victims have died. Corporal Chris Bordelon says all of the victims killed were children, ranging in age from 1-14.
Police report the suspect was the only one who fired shots during this incident in Cedar Grove.
Some of the children killed were the suspects children.
Mayor Arceneaux says
"Whenever we have a situation like this, we have a hurting community, hurting families and this hurts our entire community. He urges all of the city to pray for these families and the Cedar Grove community. This is a terrible morning in Shreveport and we are all mourning for these families."
Chief Wayne Smith says this is a tragedy and he holds these families up in prayer. He says all resources available are being used in this investigation.
