According to national reports, there has sadly been another mass shooting in America. The shooting took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon when a gunman walked into a Tulsa's St. Francis Medical Center and opened fire. Capt. Richard Meulenberg of the Tulsa Police Department confirmed four people were murdered and the shooter is dead believed to have been by his own hands. Police do not have a motive.

CNN reports the shooting took place around 4:52 p.m. local time, and officers were on the scene roughly 3 minutes later at 4:56 p.m. Gunshots rang out and officers rushed the building and were apparently coming from the second floor. They did make contact with the suspect who was reportedly a Black male. It's unclear as to whether the shooter was affiliated with the hospital center, had a grievance with someone who worked or was a patient there, or if it was a random act of violence. An investigation is ongoing.

Shortly after the incident the TPD took to their Facebook page and posted a live briefing to notify residents of the information they ascertained so far.

TPD reported that “Officers are currently going through every room in the building checking for additional threats,” police continued “We know there are multiple injuries, and potentially multiple casualties.” Capt. Meulenberg said that several people were injured in the shooting and it was a “catastrophic scene.”

The shooting was in the Natalie Medical Building, which houses a breast health center and outpatient surgery. St. Francis Health System locked down its campus as soon as they were alerted of an active shooter in the building. Look for more details with your local news as this is an active investigation. The tragedies keep adding up as today's senseless shooting marks the 213th mass shooting in America since January!  If that's not enough there has been 27 school shootings since the beginning of the year.

Something has got to give. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
