Louisiana Dreams: What You Could Buy with a $1.6 Billion Powerball Win

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb to sky high numbers this week. The top prize is worth $1.6 billion for the Monday night drawing. I am one of those players across Louisiana dreaming about how things will change if I have the winning ticket.

The lump sum onetime payout for this jackpot would be $735 million. You would have to pay taxes out of that amount. But who cares about that. You would still be getting a pile of money.

Live Large in the Pelican State

There are lots of great things you can buy in Louisiana with this huge pile of cash. You could snap up a mansion on the bank of Lake Pontchartrain just north of New Orleans. You could also grab a beautiful home in the Garden District in Louisiana, or a French Quarter getaway.

But if you love fast things, you could grab up any number of luxury cars or maybe even a custom fishing boat or yacht for sailing out in the Gulf.

I might even think about getting a classic car from the 1960’s. A fully restored Corvette would be on my list of possible purchases.

Giving to Charity in Louisiana from Powerball Jackpot

I would also spend a lot of money on charity causes. One of my top priorities would be to help victims of domestic abuse. I might even pay to build a new housing complex for women who are fleeing abusive homes. Part of my big cash windfall would also be used to help provide food for those who are struggling.

But my big purchase with all this cash will definitely be a luxury condo overlooking the Gulf. I would probably buy a property in Orange Beach, Alabama or in Destin, Florida. Believe me, I have already started looking.
