The Louisiana State Office of Motor Vehicles is reminding everyone that this time of year is a very busy time at your local Office of Motor Vehicles. Many services can be completed online through the Office of Motor Vehicle’s web site at www.expresslane.org

The Office of Motor Vehicles will continue to serve its clients through U.S. mail or in person for those citizens who do not have access to a computer.  Please call your local Office of Motor Vehicles or the Headquarters Office in Baton Rouge at 225-925-6146 for any questions or concerns about the online process.   Local motor vehicle office numbers can be found on the OMV's web site along with the list of services offered.

Some of the services offered are:

  • Driver’s License Renewal (if eligible)
  • Vehicle Registration Renewal
  • Identification Card Renewal (if eligible)
  • Official Driving Record
  • Notice of Vehicle Transfer (report vehicle as sold, donated or traded)
  • Duplicate Registration
  • Vehicle Statement of Non-Use

“We realize that time is a valuable commodity to our customers so we are encouraging them to utilize our online services to eliminate lengthy lines in their local motor vehicle offices," said Nick Gautreaux, Commissioner for the Office of Motor Vehicles.  "We are happy to serve the citizens of Louisiana in person, but why wait in line if you can save time by completing your business online."

The Office of Motor Vehicles says it will continue to look for innovative outlets to streamline its processes in conjunction with all other agencies in the Department of Public Safety.  Through planning and streamlining, OMV will save time for the citizens of Louisiana and to continue to work efficiently.
