The Louisiana Legislature is back in session after roughly two months off due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They only have until June 1st to complete all of their legislative business, which will also be disrupted by the virus.

Most of the regular business the legislature had planned to tackle this year will all be pushed to the side, with COVID legislation taking the lead. Multiple levels of COVID legislation will be put before state lawmakers, including one based on pandemic insurance.

WVUE-TV reports that lawmakers will be looking at a bill that would force insurance companies to cover COVID-19 pandemic losses, like what have been experienced due to COVID-19. It's House Bill 858, and the simple text reads:

"Provides relative to business interruption claims due to the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic"

The full text of the bill is designed to have insurance companies provide coverage for losses to a business from a pandemic. However it only covers businesses with more than 100 employees.
