After the dust settled last Friday night here in District 1 of Northwest Louisiana, several of our local high schools emerged victorious and have advanced to Round 2 of the Louisiana State High School Football Playoffs.

While lots of the actual dates and times of some of these games are still listed as "To Be Determined" by the LHSAA, a safe assumption is that those games will be held at 7:00 pm Friday night.

Congratulations to all those who have advanced and will see action again this week. Here's what we've found so far.

In Class 5A, #11 Haughton's win over Live Oak, last Friday, gave them the opportunity to travel south to see action with #6 Alexandria. Incidentally, Haughton proved to be the only Non-Select 5A school in our area to advance to the second round with their next game with Alexandria set for 7:00 pm Friday in Alexandria.

In Class 4A, we are well represented with these games:

  • #9 Huntington will travel to #8 Plaquemine. Game date and time to be determined.
  • #12 Minden will travel to #5 Leesville. Game date and time to be determined.
  • #14 North Desoto will head to #3 Tioga. Kickoff Friday night at 7:00 pm.

In Class 3A we only have one school advancing:

  • #7 Green Oaks of Shreveport will host #10 St. Martinville. Game date and time to be determined.

In Class 2A, we've got a couple of teams who've made it to Round 2

  • #8 Red River will host #9 Amite Friday night at 7:00
  • #5 North Caddo will host #12 General Trass Friday night at 7:00

In Class 1A, several of our Northwest La. teams have advanced.

  • #8 Logansport will host #9 West St. John. Game date and time to be determined.
  • #5 Homer will host #12 Block. Game date and time to be determined.
  • #7 Haynesville will host #10 Basile. Game Friday night at 7:30 pm in Haynesville.

In Division 1 of the Select Schools, only one school from here has advanced:

  • #3 Byrd will host #6 St. Augustine Friday night at 6:00 pm at Lee Hedges Stadium

In Division 4 of Select Schools, again, only one local school will see action:

  • #1 Calvary hosts #8 Catholic Friday night at 7:00 pm
