Leesville Main Street Gumbo Cook-Off Set for February 9

LEESVILLE, La. –The third annual Dicky Berry Leesville Main Street Gumbo Cook Off is set for Feb. 9 in downtown Leesville, La., and everyone can get in on the action, whether you like to cook the stuff, eat it or both.
Cooks can enter one of three categories for $30 each and a chance to win $1,000 for first place or $500 for second place.

If you'd prefer simply to partake of the cook off results, then show up around noon at VFW Post 3106 in at the corner of Harriet and Third Streets in downtown Leesville. Adults can get all they can eat for $7, while it's $3 for children.

Contestants may enter any of three categories as individuals or teams; organizations and businesses are allowed to enter. The categories are chicken and pork, seafood and wild game. Entries will be accepted no later than February 2013.

Contestants may begin cooking at 7 a.m. on Feb. 9, but can begin preparation for cooking as early as 3 p.m.on Feb. 8.
