Aggravated Assault Arrest Following Knife Attack in Shreveport

On September 14th, 2024, at approximately 1:57 AM, Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to 1848 Anna St. in response to a report of an armed person.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the victim and witnesses, who reported that a known acquaintance, 35-year-old Gerame Powell, had pulled a hunting knife from his pocket and charged at the victim, attempting to stab her. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.

Powell was not on the scene when officers arrived but was located later that evening at approximately 7:00 PM. He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Criminal Property Damage. Additionally, Powell faces charges of Drug Paraphernalia and Criminal Mischief related to a separate incident.

This is another outstanding job by SPD Patrol officers as officers used teamwork to take another violent offender off the streets.
