KCS Engineer Honored for Promoting Rail Safety
Sheriff's Safety Town has recognized a Kansas City Southern Railway Company engineer for promoting rail safety education through the Sheriff's Auxiliary Deputy Program.
Stephen Prator, Jr., received the Friends of Safety Town Award from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office. He's a locomotive engineer for KCS and a volunteer for Operation Lifesaver. He has presented the program to 13 Sheriff's Auxiliary Deputy classes and volunteered over 100 hours to maintaining the railroad safety exhibit at Safety Town.
The sheriff's office says the exhibit uses a functioning railroad crossing to teach children the importance of practicing safe habits around railroad tracks.
The award was presented at KCS' Shreveport Yard on North Lakeshore Drive, and the presentation coincided with the KCS Holiday Express train visit to Shreveport.
