For the first time ever, John Walsh is heading to Shreveport-Bossier, and he's doing it to support the work of the Gingerbread House in the fight against child abuse.

Walsh is a victims' rights advocate and Emmy-winning, internationally-known host and executive producer of America's Most Wanted. The groundbreaking reality program helped law enforcement capture more than 1,100 dangerous fugitives and bring home more than 50 missing children since its debut in 1988. This has been his life's mission since July 27, 1981, the day his only child Adam was abducted from a mall near his home in Hollywood, Florida. Adam was found murdered two weeks later.

Although he's never held political office, John's been the driving force behind major pieces of child protection legislation. This hard work led him to being honored five times by four presidents.

Gingerbread House is hosting its 2014 Luncheon from 11 a.m. until noon October 8 at Sam's Town Hotel & Casino. If you'd like to attend, you'll need to confirm your spot NO LATER THAN TODAY. Just call (318) 674-2900 to do that. Individual tickets are $125 and benefit GH's continued efforts to assist child abuse victims here in our area.
