The great state of Texas has all kinds of cool, interesting, beautiful and weird things. Wait, weird may offend somebody ... let's go with quirky.

The Texas stretch of Route 66 is loaded with strange, we have mysterious ghost lights that not even NASA can't explain, a big ass pair of cowboy boots and a lot, lot more.

We've even got a museum dedicated to toilet seats ... seriously.

Truck Yard The Colony, located in The Colony, Texas, is home to Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Art Museum. Admission is free so, it won't cost you a BUTT - load of money to gaze reverently at around 1,400 toilet seats all custom painted by Barney.

It all started in a big garage in Barney's backyard in San Antonio, Texas. The locals loved it and he was soon getting national and international fans and attention. In 2019, at the age of 98, Barney decided to hang up his brushes ... paint and toilet ... and retire.

Not wanting to see this epic collection of beautified bowl toppers lost forever, Truck Yard offered to house Barney's collection for him and that's where you can see them to this day.

You're probably wondering why someone would spend 9 decades painting on toilet seats, aren't you? Barney's reasons for creating his "movement" were simple and somewhat profound ... no "butts" about 'em.

I’d like to be remembered for how a person could save a lot of stuff that is being destroyed [and] for showing them it needs to be saved – maybe not on a toilet seat, but they can save what has come their way instead of destroying it. Showing that it’s worth something.” - truckyard.com
