The Democratic Representative of Dallas, Texas, Jasmine Crockett, is at it again. This time she is being criticized for calling Governer Greg Abbott "Hot Wheels".

The 'Hot Wheels' Comment: What Rep. Crockett Said

Rep. Crocket, who previously referred to Marjorie Taylor Greene as having a "bleach blonde, bad built, butch body" during a House committee oversight hearing, called Governer Abbott "Hot Wheels" in Los Angeles at a dinner organized by the Human Rights Campaign.

Republican Backlash: Accusations of Insensitivity

At the dinner Crocket said, " Y'all know we got Governer Hot Wheels down there . . . and the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot ass mess, honey." Critics are saying that the "Hot Wheels" nickname is a disparaging remark about Abbott's use of a wheelchair. Meanwhile, Crocket claims that she wasn't referencing Abbott's disability, rather she was talking about the modes of transportation he uses when transferring illegal immigrants to communities led by Black mayors.

The Question of Intent: Did Crockett Use Disability as a Punchline

I think that Crocket is lying, and if she isn't then she should never speak in public again if she is truly that tone deaf. I believe that she was using his wheelchair as a punchline, and I also believe that she should have just stood by it.

Trump's History of Personal Attacks: A Stark Contrast?

The right has been using personal insults and offensive nicknames since Donald Trump ran for president in 2016. President Trump said that Ted Cruz had an ugly wife, he called Senator Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas" in reference to her claims of having Native American heritage, and he often called Hillary Clinton a "Nasty Woman".

Disability and Political Discourse: Where Is the Line?

I'm very critical of the Republican response to this name calling issue. The right-wing politicians have backed Donald Trump, and the right-wing voters claim to love that he talks the way that he does. Now they are clutching at their pearls and calling Crocket "despicable, shameful, unhinged, and a slurry of other character bashing descriptions".

I was always told that if you can't take it then don't dish it out. Maybe somebody needs to sit down and talk to the right-wing politicians about the Golden Rule.
