Louisiana Drivers Alert: Key Hwy 90 Ramps to Remain Closed for Six Months
Louisiana motorists who frequent Highway 90 should be alert of closures that may impact driving for the better part of the new year.
Drivers in Iberia Parish, St. Mary Parish, and surrounding areas who frequently use Highway 90 as a “back way” between Lafayette and New Orleans should plan for possiple detours starting this week. The westbound entrance and exit ramps at LA 83 in Baldwin will close on Tuesday at 7 a.m. to accommodate major construction work.
The closure, which is expected to last until June 30 at 5 p.m., will allow crews to perform extensive bridge repairs, base construction, and concrete and asphalt pavement operations. During this period, emergency vehicles will not have access to the ramps, according to the Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department.
Detour Information:
For motorists looking to access LA 83 westbound:
- Exit at 144, take the US 90 Westbound Frontage Road, and proceed to LA 83.
For those entering US 90 westbound from LA 83:
- Use the US 90 Westbound Frontage Road to LA 318, and then merge onto US 90.
The ramp closures will likely affect both local residents and travelers relying on this route for their commutes or road trips. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for travel and familiarize themselves with the detour routes.
