Louisiana Lottery Confirms $278,939 Winner in Wednesday Drawing
Last night as residents of Allen, Rapides, Avyolles, and Beauregard Parishes were tracking thunderstorms that dumped more than five inches of rain in some locales, there was a different kind of "lightning" being captured at the Louisiana Lottery. Wednesday is a big night at the Louisiana Lottery, they feature drawings in three of the lottery's most popular "draw games".
Of course, most of us are familiar with the almost nationwide multi-state lottery game Powerball. On Wednesday night the Louisiana Lottery reported that the game's top prize was an estimated $240 million. If you didn't get to see the Powerball drawing for Wednesday, December 4, 2024, here's how it played out.
Did Anyone Win Powerball on Wednesday Night?
Don't feel bad that you didn't match all the numbers needed to win the big money because neither did anyone else. That means that Powerball will draw for an estimated $260 million on Saturday night. That's the estimated top prize for the annuity. If you win and choose the lump sum or cash payout you're looking at $123 million before the tax man shows up with his hand out.
Louisiana Lottery Confirms Huge Win on Wednesday Night
The other draw games that the Louisiana Lottery supports on Wednesday night are the Lotto game and the Easy 5 game. Lotto had not had a jackpot winner since October 26th when a ticket sold in New Orleans matched six of six numbers to claim the game's top prize of $675,000.
Wednesday's Lotto prize was slightly larger than that recent big win. The Louisiana Lottery estimated the jackpot to be $750,000 at the time of Wednesday's Lotto drawing. We can confirm through our sources at Louisiana Lottery that no ticket sold for last night's drawing matched the numbers needed to win the jackpot. However, two tickets sold for Lotto in Louisiana Wednesday did match five of six numbers for a prize of $3,243.
Louisiana Lottery Reveals Big Winner Sold at RaceTrac Gas Station
Okay, there was no winner in Powerball. There was no winner in the Lotto game. The big win must have come from Louisiana's other Wednesday night game, Easy 5. It did. A ticket sold at a RaceTrac in Terrytown, Louisiana matched all the numbers needed to claim the Easy 5 jackpot of $278,939.
Easy 5 will now reset its jackpot to $50,000 for Saturday's drawing. The Lotto top prize will be an estimated $775,00. And, the Powerball will be an estimated $260 million. Meanwhile, on Friday the Mega Millions game boasts the biggest jackpot of all for Louisiana players.
Friday's Mega Millions will be worth an estimated $579 million. That game produced a $3 million dollar winner in Baldwin, Louisiana on November 26th but the game's jackpot prize has not been won since a ticket matched all the numbers on September 10th. That winning ticket, sold in Texas, was worth $800 million.
