What Happens if the Dallas Cowboys Lose Thursday Night Football
The Dallas Cowboys will travel to New Jersey tonight to take on the New York Giants in Thursday Night Football. The Cowboys are coming off back-to-back losses at home, which has brought their records to 1-2 on the season. The two losses weren't just impactful because they were losses, but the way the Cowboys lost have caused just as much concern.
In week 2, the Cowboys hosted the New Orleans Saints at AT&T Stadium. The Saints blew the Cowboys out 44-19, and the game wasn't even as close as the score indicates.
Then in week 3, the Baltimore Ravens came to Dallas. The Cowboys lost 28-25, but again it was a loss that was way worse on the field than the final score shows. The Cowboys were down 28-6 in the third quarter. While it might indicate that the Cowboys mounted a furious comeback, it almost seemed like the Ravens let up, which allowed the Cowboys back in.
Tonight, on the other side of the field, will be another 1-2 team. But the Giants are a 1-2 that people have a very different opinion of than the Cowboys. While many believe the Cowboys are underachieving at 1-2, others believe that the Giants are overachieving by having a win already.
The Giants beat the Cleveland Browns last week, which is interestingly the same team that the Cowboys have beaten. The way the Giants have lost their games kind of mirror the Cowboys too. They got their doors blown off by the Minnesota Vikings in the first game of the year, then lost by 3 to the Washington Commanders.
Even though both teams have the same record, this Thursday Night Football game is going to be far more important for the Cowboys.
While the Giants didn't have much in the way of expectations going into 2024, there were a lot of people who believed the Cowboys were real contenders. If they lost this game to the Giants, things would be getting very hot in Big D. After this game, they go to Pittsburgh, where the Steelers have actually been playing some good football over the last couple of weeks. Then they have the Detroit Lions in Dallas before their bye week.
When they come back from the bye, its San Francisco, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and then Houston. Which is a whole bunch of tough games ahead.
If the Cowboys lose to the Giants on Thursday Night Football, they will be 1-3, with 6 straight games coming that are going to be really tough. Is there a possibility that the Cowboys could be 1-6 by the end of October. At that point, you have to assume there would be changes made to the roster, and coaching staff.
