8 Years Waiting: Shreveport Dog Needs a Home
Did you know that an estimated 70 million dogs and cats are homeless in the U.S.? it may seem like the work of local animal rescues is just a drop in a bucket, however, these rescues are doing the Lord's work in our community. According to Dogster.com, 41% of dogs are most likely to be rehomed, and somewhere between 4.6 and 6 million dogs and cats pass through the animal shelters annually. To say that our local animal shelters and rescues need our help is an understatement. With those numbers, it's no surprise that dogs and cats go unnoticed in shelters.
One Shreveport Dog Has Gone VIral for His 8-Year Wait for a Family
This sad pup has been named "Long Time Lou: The Dog Everyone Forgot". According to Pet Savers of Shreveport, Lou has been waiting for over 8 years for a family to choose him, but unfortunately, he just watches families rescue all the pups around him. According to the rescue Lou has never had a foster home, nor has an adoption application come through for him. "Maybe he’s too big. Maybe his breed isn’t what people want. Or maybe he’s just never been lucky," said Pet Savers in their Facebook post.
Could the people of Shreveport make "Long Time Lou" change his name to "Lucky Lou"? "Lou may not expect a miracle anymore, but maybe… just maybe… you could be the one to give him the home he’s always dreamed of. Please, don’t let him be forgotten." If you want to add Lou to your family you can apply to welcome him home by clicking here. Keep in mind all adoptions through Pet Savers Shreveport are facilitated through their online Adoption Application, allowing for a streamlined process. The current adoption fees range from $125 to $200 for dogs and $75 for cats.
