Does Shreveport-Bossier City, LA really have a whopping 100 things to do before you die? Shreveport native, Monica Dollar Champagne, seems to think there is and even wrote a book about it!

I'll admit it, when this book first came to my attention, I was suspicious. After all, you always hear that there's 'nothing to do' in Shreveport-Bossier City, LA. However, taking a quick look at our website will prove that wrong. Sure, we have plenty to complain about, but finding something to do isn't a problem.

When I opened up 100 Things To Do In Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana Before You Die, I was expecting a lot of outdated bucket list ideas, but Monica has some cool recommendations. While I'm not quite ready to pencil in all 100 items on my life's itinerary, I do appreciate her suggestions like devouring the Shreveport-style stuffed shrimp at Orlandeaux's Cafe, catching a college football bowl game at Independence Stadium, or trekking through the trails of Red River National Wildlife Refuge. Though, I'll confess, the thought of belting out karaoke tunes at 1931 Lounge might just give me nightmares.

Champagne wrapped Shreveport-Bossier up in some pretty prose, but you couldn't help but notice a bit of stretching to hit that magic number 100. I mean, I'm all for a spot of retail therapy at the Louisiana Boardwalk, but is it truly bucket list material? It had to be because it's a part of Reedy Press's '100 Things' series.  Monica and her family discovered the joy of travel during the pandemic when they purchased their first travel trailer and that's when her friends started asking for recommendations on where to go and what to do. Champagne, now a Texan, began a new career as a travel advisor as her family's scrapbook turned into a travel blog called Champagne on Deck. Make sure to check out her blog for lots of fun family travel ideas!
