Beyond Photos: Shreveport’s 1962 Comes to Life on Screen
Shreveport-Bossier has gone through a LOT of changes in recent years. I can remember when there were just cotton fields on Airline Drive and 70th Street. Heck, I remember when BPCC was next to Airline and the spot where Buffalo Wild Wings is was just an empty field.
Things, for better or worse, have changed a lot.
If you've been in the area a while for over 20 years, you've seen tons of change. Businesses opening, businesses closing, buildings being built or torn down.
I've often heard about the 'good old days' of Shreveport. I love the Twin Blends guys, who do a really good job of bringing 'classic' Shreveport-Bossier back to life.

But what would it be like to go back in time for a day? Well, thanks to a YouTube video, we can get a little taste of Shreveport back in 1962.
Shreveport 1962: Prepare to Be Amazed by This Footage
This video is pretty incredible. According to the person that posted it, Bertotech360 on YouTube, the footage was captured on 8mm film by his parents shortly after getting married.
I've seen all these buildings and a lot of these locations recently, but a lot of these spots...I've never seen when they were open. 518 Texas Street has been a lot of things during its life, but what it has been most recently is closed. Seeing it as a fully functioning Woolworth's is pretty mind blowing! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
