North Louisiana Named a Great Place for Baseball
With the World Series games starting this Friday baseball is at the forefront of American culture, so a simple question was raised, where can you find the best baseball around Shreveport?
Baseball? In Shreveport?
Shreveport was once home to its baseball team, but the time of the Shreveport Captains has come and gone. Due to the city's history as a baseball team, there has been a lot of local interest in bringing baseball back to Shreveport, but nothing has manifested itself yet.
For those stuck waiting to watch a local baseball game, there is hope only an hour down I-20. A recent study from WalletHub compiled a list of 335 cities to find out which is the overall best for baseball.
The study analyzed data from each city's respective baseball teams from different leagues like the MLB, MiLB, and NCAA. Statistics analyzed include the number of championship wins, hall of fame coaches, franchise value, ticket price, stadium capacity, game attendance, popularity, and a long list of other stats.
Where's the Action?
According to WalletHub, if you're looking for a place where you can catch a good game of baseball all you have to do is drive an hour down the road to Ruston or Grambling to catch an NCAA game.
Out of all 335 cities in the study, Ruston ranked 110th and Grambling 116th for the best baseball cities. Ruston is home to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Baseball team, a team with over 33 conference championships since their start in 1894. Grambling calls itself home to the Grambling State Tigers, a Southwestern Athletic Conference team that just won their first conference championship this last season.
