Could WWE WrestleMania 42 Be Held in Louisiana?
Louisiana was at one point a hotbed for professional wrestling, but in the years after the end of World Championship Wrestling, WWE has become the biggest American professional wrestling promotion. WWE has hosted WrestleMania, their biggest show of the year, in Louisiana twice in the history of WrestleMania. If rumors PWInsider have reported on are true WWE could be eyeing a Louisiana city to host WrestleMania 42 in 2026.
- Cities like Shreveport developed a legendary history with pro wrestling in the 60s up to the 90s
- WWE WrestleMania 30 and 34 were held in New Orleans
New Reports Support the New Orleans Rumor
A weeks ago PWInsider heard rumor from within WWE that New Orleans was in consideration for hosting 2026's WrestleMania 42. Reporter Mike Johnson for PWInsider has heard now reports from officials in New Orleans that support the idea WWE has New Orleans in mind.
If WWE decides to make NOLA the home of WrestleMania in 2026, it would be the third time in 12 years that WrestleMania was held in the city. WrestleMania XXX was the first time the show was held in New Orleans, and is regarded as one of the most important WrestleMania shows in history.
What Could WrestleMania Do For You
WrestleMania XXX was held on Sunday April 6th, 2014, but before the show started, the streets of New Orleans were flooded with tens of thousands of wrestling fans. The weekend was filled with smaller independent wrestling promotions running their own smaller wrestling shows before WrestleMania, and even a convention dedicated all about professional wrestling, all taking place in one of the greatest party cities of all time.
WrestleMania XXX was calculated to have brought $142.2 million to the economy of New Orleans. Just 4 years later WWE brought WrestleMania back to NOLA along with companies like TNA and Lucha Underground running their own shows. The economic impact of that April weekend in 2018 was an estimated $175 million.
A WrestleMania return to New Orleans could bring in millions of dollars to the local economy.
