Mardi Gras season has arrived in the Shreveport area. That means parades, parties, and Bal events will be filling the calendar until Fat Tuesday. Over the next two months, hundreds of thousands of revelers will participate in Mardi Gras fun across the Shreveport and Bossier City area.

One of the biggest parts of Mardi Gras season is the large list of Bal events taking place across the Shreveport area. Northwest Louisiana is home to numerous Krewes, and many of them have their own Grand Bal events. But there are generally two Bal events that draw the most attention.

The Krewe of Gemini will host their Grand Bal on Saturday, February 15th at the Shreveport Convention Center. It features an open bar, potato bar, and Tableau presentation. It is a black-tie event, and doors open at 6:30pm.

Then there's the big one, the Krewe of Centaur Bal. The biggest non-parade Mardi Gras party in North Louisiana. The Centaur Bal is set for Saturday, February 8th at the Shreveport Convention Center. Doors will open at 6pm, and Tableau will begin at 8pm. There's an open bar, dinner, and live music/dancing after Tableau.

Both of these Mardi Gras Bal events are open to the public. So no, you don't have to be a member of the Krewe to buy a ticket and attend.

This is a big misconception, so don't feel bad if you didn't know. The question doesn't really get asked a lot, because many people just assume that's how it is.

But now that you know you don't have to be a member to attend, and you can just come out for one of the best date night opportunities of the year, why wouldn't you snag a ticket?

Both of these events offer a big value; with an open bar, food, and the presentation of Mardi Gras royalty. Just check out some of the pictures of last year's Krewe of Centaur Bal to see...
