More Work Will Tangle Bossier Traffic For Next 6 Weeks
With current construction projects on I-20 and Benton Road, the last thing Bossier City needed to hear was that another project is slated to begin next week.
However, that's exactly what's going to happen. The Benton Road project and the one slated to begin next week are both related to the Walter O. Bigby Carriageway project which is currently being constructed, but that work comes at a price to motorists.
In a press release from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, all motorists are advised that beginning next Wednesday, March 13, at 7:00 am, the outside (right) lane of US 80 eastbound from Butler Street to Hamilton Road in Bossier City will be closed.
And this won't be one of those closures scheduled to last just a few days. The DOTD warns that this is scheduled to be in place for approximately six weeks, and is necessary to allow the City of Bossier City’s contractor to make improvements to Hamilton Road at US 80 as part of the ongoing Walter O. Bigby Carriageway project.
As with all projects from the DOTD, this work will be done weather permitting, so inclement weather could bring extensions or delays of the project.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
