Toledo Bend Boat Accident Leads To Drowning Of Two
High winds with a quickly approaching thunderstorm are rumored to have been the cause of a horrific boating accident yesterday on Toledo Bend.
According to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office, shortly before noon on Tuesday, May 28, a boating incident was reported to the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office.
Initial information gathered by the SPSO stated that a fishing barge had capsized in the Pirates Cove area of Toledo Bend Lake. There were six subjects on the barge at the time.
Of those six, four swam to safety, and two allegedly drowned. They were located and recovered.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries (LDWF) is the lead investigator of the incident and will release more details as those become available.
Sabine Parish Sheriff Deputies, LDWF Agents, North Sabine Fire District, South Sabine Fire District, and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Deputies were involved in the recovery efforts.
No names of the survivors or deceased have been released at this time.
