Shreveport Area Braces for Possible Severe Weather, Flood Threats
Most everyone has seen the many pictures of the Shreveport area flooding this past Friday, May 2, and they reminded us that Mother Nature still rules the roost.

Those many pictures and videos, especially those of the Caddo Parish bus, were sobering reminders of the dangers that heavy rain can unleash on our area, but could pale in contrast to the possible weather headed to our area over the next 24 to 48 hours.
In a Severe Weather Notice for most of the Arklatex from the National Weather Service in Shreveport, we learn that another round of severe weather could be rolling into the area late tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon into the evening and could include damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, large hail (quarter sized or larger), possible tornadoes, and enough rain to warrant the issuing of another Flash Flood Watch.
In the same notice from the NWS Shreveport, we learn that as much as 2 to 6 inches of rain could fall in the coming week and given our already saturated soil conditions, flooding concerns will only be exacerbated with additional rises on area lakes and rivers this week and beyond.
At present, Flood Warnings continue for the following river: Sabine River including Mineola, Hawkins, Gladewater, Longview, Beckville, Logansport. Minor flooding is forecast.
Additionally, a Flood Watch has been issued from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning for most of the Arklatex and the NWS advises that flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain.
