Required Hunter Ed Field Day Being Offered By Caddo Sheriff

Hunting season is getting closer each day and if you were born after September 1, 1969, you'll need to pass a Hunter Education Course in order to get your Louisiana Hunting License.

A growing trend among new Louisiana hunters is to take the Louisiana Hunter Education course online.

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website:

• An approved online course that you can take at any time at your own pace. You must complete this course prior to attending a field day. You will receive a voucher confirming you have completed the online course.
• The course fee is $34.95, paid to the online course provider.

However, even those who complete the course in this fashion must still attend a "field day" to complete the course and receive the official certification.

Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr. will hold one of these official "field days" from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23 at the Sheriff's Training Academy located at 15639 LA Hwy. 1 in Shreveport.

All field day participants must complete the online portion of the hunter safety course offered through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Participants are asked to print, sign, and bring proof of online course completion to the field day course.
