Red River Search Ends With Keithville Woman’s Successful Rescue
An unnamed Keithville woman was last seen leaving her residence in south Caddo Parish Monday evening at approximately 5:00 pm.
After concerned persons notified the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department, Caddo deputies began an investigation and obtained information overnight Monday from the manufacturer of the woman's vehicle indicating her car might be near the Red River Bridge in Coushatta.
According to Caddo Sheriff Jay Long, Red River deputies were then dispatched to the area where the vehicle was located unoccupied and unlocked near the boat launch.
It was at this time that the Red River Sheriff's Office organized a multi-agency search of the area, which included assistance from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Red River Fire Protection District.
According to the Red River Parish Sheriff's Department, a search of the immediate area and shoreline yielded no signs of the missing female. An unidentified set of footprints observed near the boat launch, however, led RRPSO investigators to believe that she may have entered the water from the east bank of the river.
Following a brief search, Red River Fire Department personnel located the subject. She was standing in a marshy area along the west side of the river approximately one mile south of the bridge.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office extends its gratitude to the Red River Sheriff's Office and all other first responder agencies that took part in the search effort.
Thanks to everyone's prompt actions and teamwork, we were able to locate the missing person and bring them home, said Sheriff Long.
