More Traffic Woes Announced For Shreveport This Weekend
Navigating Shreveport and Bossier is getting harder and harder with each passing day.
Of course we have the huge project on I-20 in Bossier which will continue a couple more years. Lanes of both the Arthur Ray Teague and Clyde Fant Parkways are closed while cranes are moved into the area to begin construction of the new Jimmie Davis Bridge.
Beginning Monday, May 13, we'll see nighttime closures of lanes on the Cross Lake Bridge of I-220 in Shreveport while crews work to fix the bridge's lights which have been out for years, and now we have gotten word from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development about another lane closure that motorists will have to contend with in the Shreveport area.
According to the LADOTD, this Sunday, May 12, I-49 northbound at Exit 206 (I-20 interchange) in Shreveport will be reduced to one lane.
This lane closure is scheduled to take place from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, and is necessary to allow for repairs to the crash attenuator at this location.
A crash attenuator, also known as an impact attenuator, is a device intended to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and lessen injuries to motorists resulting from a collision. These devices are designed to absorb the colliding vehicle’s energy.
Of course, as with all projects from the DOTD, this work will be done weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone or extend the work in this area.
