DOTD Announces Several I-20 Closures In The Minden Area
In April 2023, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began a project to replace the LA 531 overpass at I-20, and it's beginning to look like the construction could be nearing the end.

With the project scheduled to end around the middle of this year, DOTD still has a number of things that must be finished to put a wrap on the construction to replace the previous overpass which was constructed in 1960, and some of those things on the check list will cause more traffic delays.
DOTD Has Announced Several I-20 Ramp Closures For This Week
Such is the case for this week, when the DOTD has announced the following intermittent ramp closures at the LA 531 at I-20 interchange near Minden in Webster Parish:
- Wednesday, January 15th, 2025, 8:00 am - noon: Westbound on-ramp
- Wednesday, January 15th, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm: Westbound off-ramp
- Thursday, January 16th, 8:00 am – noon: Eastbound off-ramp
- Thursday, January 16th, 1:00 pm – 5:00 am: Eastbound on-ramp.
Why Are They Closing These I-20 Ramps?
DOTD points out that these total ramp closures are necessary to allow the contractor on the project to pave the new ramps for the newly constructed overpass, which is adjacent to the existing bridge.
Detour signage will be in place for each of the closings, but motorists should remember that all this work will be done "weather permitting" so inclement weather could delay, extend, or alter any/all of the scheduled work days/hours.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
