Get ready for some serious pant-hoots and autumn fun at Chimp Haven. The world’s largest chimpanzee sanctuary right in our backyard is opening its doors for a rare peek into sanctuary life.

Mark your calendars because Chimpanzee Discovery Day is returning on Saturday, October 17, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and this time it’s getting a festive seasonal twist with “Chimp or Treat”!

Because Chimp Haven is dedicated to providing peaceful, natural retirement habitats, public visits only happen a couple of times a year. That makes this fall event extra special. Guests of all ages can watch the chimps enjoy autumn treats and enrichment, listen to expert staff share insights on daily care and behavior, and enjoy interactive "Chimp or Treat" stations and hayride tours.

Want to extend the fun? Stick around for Chimp Chat from 12:30 to 2:30 PM (ages 7+). This separately ticketed experience offers an in-depth tour across the lush 200-acre sanctuary and a deep-dive conversation with the care team.

Event Quick Facts:

When: Saturday, October 17th, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Pro-tip: chimps are most active in the morning!)

Where: Chimp Haven (Keithville, LA)

Tickets: Available online only at chimphaven.org. Adults (13+) are $20, kids (5–12) are $10, and ages 4 and under are free!

Want to Bring a Gift for the Chimps?

Chimp Haven is accepting donations from the chimps' fall wish list at the gate! They’re looking for unopened peanut butter, canned fruit (in juice/water), unsalted nuts, plain instant mashed potatoes, and new Squishmallows or blankets.

Whether you're taking a hayride, bringing a blanket for the chimps, or just soaking in the morning pant-hoots, it's going to be a gorgeous fall day at the sanctuary. See y'all out there!
