Caddo Deputy Arrested After Opening Prison Cell And Beating Inmate
Though there was no discussion about his future employment with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department, one would think it a safe assumption that a Caddo Sheriff's Deputy will soon get his walking papers.
According to Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator, a Caddo Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested following his alleged actions yesterday, (Tuesday, September 12) morning.
In a report from the Caddo Sheriff's Department, D’Varciea Small, a two-year deputy with the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, has been arrested for simple battery after an incident at the Caddo Correctional Center.
The report goes on to state that on September 12, around 5:45 am, Small arrived at the Caddo Correction Center to prepare for his shift. He retrieved the keys and walked to the housing unit where the victim was housed.
Small is reported to then walk to the inmate’s cell and access the door. It's alleged that Small then walked into the cell and hit the inmate with a closed fist several times, left the victim in his cell, and left the unit. The victim was transported to Ochsner’s for medical treatment.
Small, of the 8900 block of Pine Edge Road in Shreveport, was arrested for Simple Battery.
