I-20 Project Progress: Industrial Drive Open, Airline Drive Ramps Close
It's been nearly two years ago that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began the I-20 reconstruction project in Bossier City.

Work first began on September 18, 2023 when the DOTD announced lane closures in both the eastbound and westbound directions on I-20 from near Hamilton Road to Industrial Drive in Bossier City.
It was no secret this would be a lengthy project but very few realized the full impact this project would place on traffic flow throughout the area. And now, the DOTD is announcing more good news about the progress of the project. Along with that though, is a healthy dose of what many could deem "extreme bad news."
There Is Great News From DOTD Regarding the I-20 Reconstruction Project
Drivers in extreme east Bossier City are delighted that now, both the westbound entrance and exit ramps at the LA 782-2 (Industrial Drive) interchange are open to traffic.
This reopening means the entire interchange is fully open to traffic.
There Is Also Bad News From DOTD Regarding The I-20 Reconstruction Project
However, beginning today, Monday, June 9, the westbound entrance and exit ramps at Airline Drive will close.
These ramps will be fully rebuilt from the ground up in the same manner that the travel lanes on the interstate are being reconstructed.
DOTD Says The Project Is Still On Track To Be Completed Late This Year Or Early 2026
The entire project remains on track to be complete in late 2025/early 2026, weather and other factors permitting.
As a reminder, commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) are prohibited from driving through the I-20 work zone due to narrow lane widths, and are required to utilize the primary detour of I-220.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
