Heads Up Bossier Drivers: Benton Road Repairs Start Monday
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has added a new twist to the Bossier City traffic maze and the fun starts Monday.

While no one could effectively argue that Benton Road in Bossier doesn't need some TLC, there are plenty who would argue the timing of another repair project.
However, I would counter that argument with the fact that regardless of when those repair monies are made available, we would all be served to graciously accept them. Who knows when they might come back?
Such is the case for Benton Road. DOTD has determined that a heavily traveled section of Benton Road, nearly three miles long, stretching from LA 72 (Old Minden Road) to Viking Drive, is in dire need of repair, and beginning Monday night, July 7, the work is slated to begin.
This work will include the removal and replacement of numerous concrete panels, new roadway striping and signage, and related work.
To help minimize the inconvenience to the traveling public, lane closures are restricted to nighttime only during the weekdays.
Drivers should be aware that there will be intermittent lane closures during the following days/times:
- Monday – Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Friday – Monday, 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (lane closures may take place during the day on weekends only)
The project has been broken down into the following three phases:
- Phase 1: Viking Drive to Douglas Drive
- Phase 2: Douglas Drive to Shed Road
- Phase 3: Shed Road to Old Minden Road
The contractor plans to begin working on the southbound lanes near the Viking Drive intersection on the night of Monday, July 7th and is anticipating completion of the entire project in late Fall 2025, dependent on weather conditions or other possible unexpected factors.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
