If you aren’t obsessed with the culinary pulse of our city, then this past Sunday simply was not for you.

We’ve already seen the epic announcements for Mudbug Madness and felt the soul of the city at Gumbo Gladiators in Festival Plaza, but there is one festival designed specifically for the 318, by the 318, and the 318 Food Fest on the Block just completely took over Shreveport.

It was an absolutely gorgeous Sunday. Residents from every corner of the area flocked to the 1800 block of Texas Avenue to get their cravings met.

With over 50 local food vendors lining the streets, I couldn’t help but wonder: Is this a glimpse of what our downtown could look like every single weekend?

Seeing families and friends show up in droves to support our local entrepreneurs was pure goodness. The weather was perfect, the music was right, and the smells of grilled meats and sweet treats drifting through the neighborhood had me smiling from ear to ear.

Between the massive success of 318 Restaurant Week and now the 318 Food Fest, it’s safe to say we don’t just have a "food following", we have an epic culinary movement that is drawing people from all over the Ark-La-Tex. Sunday reminded us of the magic that happens when we collaborate to bring that "big city" feel right to our own backyard.

With viral food influencer Keith Lee choosing New Orleans for his inaugural food festival, it makes you think... what’s next for us? We’ve already seen the "50 Cent effect" taking hold of Shreveport.

Could we be seeing 50 Cent add a massive food festival to his G-Unit legacy here? Whether it’s Hollywood stars or local legends, one thing is clear: Shreveport is hungry for more, and we are definitely ready for our seat at the table.
