I10 Still Closed in Lake Charles Due to Chemical Leak

I-10 East and West are still closed in Calcasieu Parish. According to KATC, the Louisiana State Police say that as of 6 am this morning, Friday, August 28, the closure extends from between mileposts 25 and 34.

In preparation for Hurricane Laura, I10 was closed at the Louisiana/Texas state line on Wednesday.

On Thursday, after the storm, a fire at Biolab Chemical facility in Westlake near the Calcasieu River Bridge kept it closed. Read more about that fire and chemical leak here.

Motorists are advised to check 511la.org for updates and detour routes to avoid the area.

Emergency Service Technicians and First Responders are still on the scene monitoring the areas.
