What Are the Hottest Parishes in Louisiana?
If you have been outside at all this week, you know it’s been blistering hot. Our temps have been in the upper 90’s and the heat index has been climbing well into the triple digits.
Everyone knows summers are hot in Louisiana. We are prepared for it. If you are like me, you try to stay inside in AC to avoid these toasty days. Stacker put together a list of the hottest parishes in Louisiana and you probably won’t be surprised about the ones at the top of this list.
Using data from the National Centers for Environmental Information, Stacker took a deep dive into our sweltering Louisiana summer weather. The data focuses on the average temps from June to August of the past year compared to the historical data. The temps are averaged for those same months over the past 100 years.
How Hot Have Recent Summers Been in Shreveport?
In 2023, we had 36 days of 100° weather. That number dropped to 16 days of 100° weather for 2024. We had 26 100° days in 2022. We could be bracing for several 100° days next week, but we will have to wait and see.
You might think north Louisiana would be a little cooler than south Louisiana, but that is not the case. You won't believe which parish was ranked the 'hottest!' Every parish in NW Louisiana makes this heated list.
