High Speed Chase & Officer Involved Shooting In Bossier City
A high speed chase in Bossier Parish fatally ended at one of the busiest intersections in Bossier City.
KSLA reports the chase started just after 5pm on Saturday, March 4th. The pursuit of the suspect started in the Haughton area when Haughton Police attempted to stop a suspect who had 2 felony warrants on Domestic Abuse charges. The suspect evaded Haughton Police on East Texas into Bossier City.
It was at the corner of East Texas and Benton Road, one of the most traveled intersections in Bossier City, where the chase ended. That's when police say the gunfire began.
The suspect reportedly opened fire at police officers, which resulted in the officers firing back. Police say that more than 50 shots were fired during the incident. Haughton Police, Bossier City Police, and the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office all responded to the scene.
KSLA reports the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers have been reported as injured as a result.
Louisiana State Troopers are on the scene, and will conduct an investigation into the shooting. Which is the normal procedure for all officer involved shootings in the state.
