Here’s How to Snag Tickets Early to Shreveport’s Geek’d Con
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back to Downtown Shreveport this August. The 2024 Geek'd Con will take place August 16th, 17th, and 18th, at the Shreveport Convention Center.
The guest lineup will include horror movie icon Tony Todd, Scrubs star John C. McGinley, the voice of Master Chief Steve Downes, award winning actor Billy Zane, the voice of Mickey Mouse Bret Iwan, and many more incredibly talented celebrities. But its not just the stars of film and TV, we have a second event happening inside Geek'd Con.
The first ever Shreveport Sports Card Expo will be taking place inside the Captain Shreve Ballroom during Geek'd Con. You will be able to buy, sell, and trade sports cards and memorabilia, while also getting a chance to meet some sports legends.
You will have a chance to meet MLB All Star Rafael Palmeiro, Pro Football Hall of Fame member Bob Lilly, Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims, LSU National Champions Jacob Hester and Todd Walker, along with World Series Champion (and former Shreveport Brave) Darrell Evans.
If you're not familiar with this type of event, it's basically a pop culture explosion.
The vendor floor will have more than 200 vendor booths built featuring collectibles, artwork, comic books, trading cards, clothing, poster, and more. If its geeky and you can think of it, someone will probably be selling something like it at Geek'd Con.
When it comes to the celebrities, you can think of this as a type of meet and greet. Where each celebrity guest will have their own booth set up that you can buy autograph and photos from. All you have to do is get in their line (sometimes they won't even have a line if you get there at the right time) and walk straight up to their table. They will have photos you can pick from, or you can bring your own item. Then for their set price (they keep 100% of the autograph sales) they will sign your item. This is one of the best ways to support the creators you enjoy, because instead of the money be funneled through a movie studio or TV company, your dollars go directly to the stars.
But its not just autographs, you can take photos with the celebrities. Either at their table, or you can buy a Professional Photo Op. This is where a professional photographer will take a photo of you and the guest, then print it out on-site for you. Many people will choose this option, and then take the photo to the guest to have them sign it. Creating a once-in-a-lifetime collectible.
The event also has a panel room, where you can listen to the guests tell stories about their careers, and even engage in question-and-answer sessions with the audience. The panels are free with your paid admission to Geek'd Con.
There's also a cosplay contest on Sunday, where you can see some of the best cosplay in the whole state of Louisiana compete for cash and prizes.
