Haughton Firefighter Arrested for Pointing a Gun at His Girlfriend’s Dad

Caddo Deputies arrested a Haughton firefighter Sunday afternoon following an armed confrontation on Old Mooringsport Road.

During the investigation, CPSO Deputies learned that 20 year-old Jesse Nitz had showed up at the home to pick up his girlfriend. While there, Nitz became involved in a verbal argument with his girlfriend's father.

CPSO learned that during the argument, Nitz allegedly pulled a handgun from a holster on his waist and pointed it at the victim.

The victim attempted to disarm Nitz, resulting in a fight over the gun. The victim's adult son helped his father in disarming Nitz and securing the weapon. The two men detained Nitz until deputies arrived on the scene.

Nitz, a Haughton firefighter, was arrested without incident for one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.

He was then taken to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on that charge.

This investigation remains ongoing.
