The police chief of the small Natchitoches Parish town of Goldonna has been arrested on child abuse charges and now the child's mother has also been arrested.

The chief, 47-year-old Joe Hines is charged with cruelty to a juvenile. He is being held without bond in the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

 The female child was removed from the home Monday afternoon after Natchitoches Parish deputies went to the home with DCFS workers to do a welfare check.

The child now is in a safe environment. While agents where questioning the girl's mother, 28-year-old Casey Savannah Smedley, she reportedly admitted participating in what was going on in the home by videotaping at least one incident and sending it to another person.

Smedley is charged with cruelty to a juvenile.

Natchitoches deputies released this statement:

Our detectives are committed to conducting an impartial investigation that will follow the facts and evidence in this case to be presented to the district attorney, not based on hearsay or rumors,

.Natchitoches investigators got several complaints about videos of the alleged cruelty popping up on social media.
