‘Big Little Lies’ Wins Best Television Limited Series at the 2018 Golden Globes
Even as the definition of “Limited Series” has become maddeningly opaque, it’s time for the 2018 Golden Globes to crown the Best Television Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. And unless you’ve been living under a rock, that award was always going to HBO’s Big Little Lies.
Writer David E. Kelley initially accepted the award, before commending Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman for their producing efforts, and turning the microphone over. Witherspoon thanked all the women who broke their silence about abuse over the past year, promising “we see you” and “time is up.” More stories will be told, and not just in Big Little Lies Season 2.
Big Little Lies won in a field that this year included FX’s Fargo and Feud: Bette and Joan, USA’s The Sinner and Sundance’s Top of the Lake: China Girl. Last year’s nominees included FX’s The People v. O.J. Simpson, HBO’s The Night Of, Starz’s The Dresser, AMC’s The Night Manager and ABC’s American Crime, with O.J. taking home the prize.
We’ll follow along with every winner from tonight’s big show, so stay tuned for more on the 2018 Golden Globes.
