Shreveport's VA will be serving free hot dogs, chips and water for Veterans as part of the Memorial Day Observance.

Beginning at 11am, you can drive through and pick up your brown bag which will include the hot dog, chips and water for each Vet. The hot dogs are being prepared by our Veterans Canteen Service and will be provided in paper bags with chips and condiments.

All of the employees passing the food items will wear the correct protective equipment and follow all CDC safety guidelines.

The VA issued this statement:

While it is difficult to conduct a traditional ceremony that appropriately observes Memorial Day, we want all ArkLATex Veterans to know we remember. We pause to honor the sacrifices that make our freedom possible.

You will also find the American flag will line the main driveway at the VA Hospital and employees will be out directing traffic to the hot dog giveaway to maintain traffic flow.
