Four people are behind bars after being caught in the act of burglarizing a vehicle in Bossier Parish.

Sheriff Julian Whittington says 20-year-old Keithon Bates, 18-year-old Antonio Jones, 17-year-old Demarquez Walpool and 19-year-old Ricardo Pierce stole items from nearly 20 vehicles in two Bossier Parish neighborhoods over the weekend. Among the items taken in the Country Place and Espanita Forest subdivisions were electronics, purses, wallets and guns.

Patrol deputies were called to Country Place just before 2 this morning after a concerned resident contacted the sheriff's office. Deputies approached the four suspects, but they fled, heading west on Highway 80. They didn't get far, and all four were taken into custody and booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility.

These same suspects are also linked to vehicle burglaries in Shreveport, and possibly more in Bossier Parish and Bossier City. Detectives expect additional charges. Right now, all four are charged with three counts of simple burglary and one of possessing marijuana. Bates is also charged with aggravated flight from an officer, driving under suspension and not using a turn signal.

Authorities say all but one of the burglarized vehicles were left unlocked. They urge residents to always lock their vehicles and remove any valuables from plain sight.
