SHREVEPORT, LA – This started as a debate about the movie “Die Hard”. Is it a Christmas movie or not. We have been arguing about that for years. I then found a survey about the most popular Christmas moves across the United States.

I found a new survey that lists the favorite Christmas movie in each state. Boy did I get shocked by some of the results.

This list was compiled based on hottest trends and searches on Google for Christmas.

A Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001) is the top Christmas movie in the nation. This is the animated version and I’m not sure that would be at the top of my list, but no big argument for this choice.

This was the favorite movie in Arizona, Connecticut, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

Some states chose the old classics, while others turn to more of the new releases.

Netflix’s Best. Christmas. Ever. is the most popular choice from 2023, despite a dismal IMDb rating.

And back to our Die Hard debate. It’s the favorite Christmas movie in Wyoming.

But that state is not the only one picking a dark movie as a top Christmas pick

Best.Christmas.Ever is the top Christmas movie in Texas.

The Louisiana choice is kind of frightening. It has me wondering what we are Googling in the Bayou State. Our favorite Christmas movie is Violent Night.

Really. Yep. That is our favorite holiday movie. I’ve never seen it and don’t plan to.

Different Versions of 'The Night Before Christmas'

There are few holiday stories more iconic than 'A Visit From St. Nicholas' AKA 'The Night Before Christmas'. This poem first published anonymously in 1823 and later attributed to Clement Clarke Moore, who claimed authorship in 1837. Since that time, many people have put their own spin on the classic poem. The following are many of the more popular re-writes of the old story of getting a visit from a jolly old elf.
