Shreveport/Bossier Port officials and the Caddo/Bossier Port Commission wanted to know exactly how much of an economic impact the port has on this region. So they commissioned noted Economist Loren Scott to find out. Among his findings -- the port's annual operating expenditures supported more than 75-hundred new jobs in this region in 2010. For every new job created on the port site, dr scott says there are 4-point-1 additional jobs created in Caddo and Bossier parishes. He says that operational spending at the port last year generated almost $2-billion in new business sales in the region and those sales, in turn, created new household earnings of more than $564-million for area residents.
