Dog Rescued from House Fire by Shreveport Fire Department
Wednesday (2/19/25) Shreveport Firefighters were called to Merrick street to a house fire.
When SFD pulled up to the house they immediately could see that smoke was pouring from the roof. Firefighters jumped in to action and started coordinating how they were going to put out the fire. While Firefighters were hard at work, they learned that thankfully the owner of the home was not inside, but a dog was!
SFD were able to search the house and found the dog inside. They were able to immediately rescue the pet and treat it on site. The dog is expected to fully recover.
From Shreveport Fire Department:
"Fortunately, this house fire did not result in any injuries to Shreveport firefighters or citizens of Shreveport. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Investigation Office.
Regular chimney cleaning and maintenance are essential to prevent fire hazards and ensure the safe operation of your fireplace. The Shreveport Fire Department emphasizes the importance of keeping chimneys clean and well-maintained to reduce the risk of chimney fires and ensure the safe operation of heating appliances."
